Safety Week
Description
🚨 Safety Week 🔐
All Richardson ISD campuses will practice the five Standard Response Protocol safety drills.
Each morning, we will review the day’s drill procedures with students, explain the expectations in age-appropriate language, and provide an opportunity for questions before conducting the drill according to the districtwide schedule.
These drills help ensure that students and staff understand how to respond safely and calmly during an emergency.
Drill Schedule
- Monday — Hold: Students and staff remain in their classrooms or assigned areas while the hallways are kept clear.
- Tuesday — Secure: Everyone is brought inside the building, and exterior doors are secured due to a potential concern outside the school. Learning continues inside.
- Wednesday — Lockdown: Classroom doors are locked, lights are turned off, and students move out of sight and remain quiet due to a potential concern inside the building.
- Thursday — Evacuate: Students and staff safely leave the building and move to a designated location.
- Friday — Shelter: Students and staff follow specific safety procedures based on a potential hazard, such as severe weather or another environmental concern.
